Turin CF64V Variable-Speed Single-Dose Grinder
The Turin CF64V is a compact 64mm flat-burr grinder built for espresso and filter coffee. Its vertically mounted burr set, 400-watt brushless DC motor and adjustable 800–1,800 RPM range give home baristas precise control without taking over the countertop.
A controlled-feed pre-breaker auger helps move beans into the burrs, while the plasma ion generator, bellows and integrated chute knocker reduce static and retained grounds. Stepless grind adjustment covers fine espresso through pour-over and French press, and the 64mm burr platform supports several popular upgrade geometries.

Which CF64V Burrs Should I Choose?
Burr geometry has a major influence on body, clarity and flavor separation. Choose for your primary brew method rather than treating one option as universally best.
| Burr | Best suited for | Cup profile |
|---|---|---|
| Turin stainless steel | Espresso and filter | Balanced and versatile; the best starting point for most buyers |
| Turin Red Titanium | Espresso and general use | Espresso-focused body with a coated cutting surface |
| SSP High Uniformity | Espresso | Greater intensity, body and precision |
| SSP Multipurpose | Light-roast espresso and filter | Higher clarity and flavor separation |
| SSP Cast Lab Sweet | Espresso and filter | Sweetness and clarity with more texture than Multipurpose |
Optional burr upgrades do not come installed or aligned unless a listing explicitly says otherwise. Confirm the burr dimensions and mounting pattern before installation.
What Does CF64V Variable Speed Change?
The CF64V can be adjusted from 800 to 1,800 RPM. Changing RPM alters burr velocity, feed behavior and grinding time, and it may change particle distribution with some coffees and burr geometries. It is most useful after grind size, dose and brew recipe are already dialed in.
There is no universally correct RPM. Start near the middle of the range, establish a good recipe, and then change speed only when you have a specific flavor or workflow goal. Lower RPM does not always mean more clarity, and higher RPM does not always mean more body.
If you want a straightforward grinder without another adjustment variable, choose the DF64 Gen 2.7. If you want variable speed but prefer an angled horizontal format rather than the CF64V’s vertical layout, compare it with the DF64V Gen 3.
DF64 Gen 2.7 vs CF64V vs DF64V Gen 3
These three Turin grinders use compatible 64mm flat burrs and a stepless single-dose workflow, but they are designed around different priorities. The DF64 Gen 2.7 emphasizes value and broad versatility. The CF64V adds a stronger brushless motor, variable speed and a narrow vertical format. The DF64V Gen 3 uses an angled horizontal design with variable speed and a refined controlled-feed workflow.
| Buying factor | DF64 Gen 2.7 | CF64V | DF64V Gen 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Burr platform | 64mm flat | 64mm flat | 64mm flat |
| Stock burrs | Selected Turin Stainless Steel or Red Titanium | Turin Stainless Steel | Turin Red Titanium espresso burrs |
| Motor | 250W AC | 400W brushless DC | 400W brushless DC |
| Speed control | Fixed speed | Variable, 800–1,800 RPM | Variable, up to 1,800 RPM |
| Grinder layout | Traditional angled upright body with bellows | Narrow vertical burr layout with pre-breaker auger | Low-profile angled body with controlled slow feeder |
| Grounds clearing | Bellows and declumper | Bellows, integrated chute knocker and plasma system | Bellows, removable chute and plasma system |
| Best reason to choose it | Best overall value and easiest access to multiple factory burr choices | 400W brushless motor, variable speed and a narrow footprint | Variable-speed control with a refined angled workflow and stock coated burrs |
| Main tradeoff | No RPM adjustment | Vertical workflow and controls may not suit buyers who prefer the DF64V format | Higher cost than the fixed-speed DF64 |
Which 64mm Turin grinder should you buy?
Choose the DF64 Gen 2.7 if you want the strongest balance of grind quality, burr flexibility and price. It is the sensible choice when you do not need RPM control.
Choose the CF64V if you want variable speed, a 400W brushless motor and a narrow vertical body.
Choose the DF64V Gen 3 if you want variable speed in an angled, low-profile grinder with a brushless motor and controlled-feed design.
Variable speed is a tuning tool, not an automatic upgrade in cup quality. Burr geometry, coffee, roast development, grind size and recipe usually have a greater effect on flavor. Buyers who do not intend to experiment with RPM will generally receive better value from the DF64 Gen 2.7.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Turin CF64V good for espresso?
Yes. Its 64mm flat burrs, stepless adjustment and 400W brushless motor provide the fine control and power needed for espresso.
Can the CF64V grind for pour-over or French press?
Yes. Its adjustment range covers filter methods through coarse brewing. Burr choice affects the resulting clarity and body.
What does variable RPM change?
Speed can affect grinding time, bean feed and particle distribution. Treat RPM as a fine-tuning tool: dial in grind size first, then compare speed settings by taste.
What RPM should I use?
There is no universal best setting. Start around the middle of the 800–1,800 RPM range and change one variable at a time. The manufacturer guidance allows a broad range for both espresso and filter brewing.
How much coffee does the CF64V retain?
It is designed for low-retention single dosing, but exact retention and exchange vary with beans, grind size, burr seasoning, cleanliness and bellows technique. Weigh input and output when precision matters.
Does the CF64V require RDT?
The plasma generator is designed to reduce static, so many users will not need RDT. A very small mist may still help in extremely dry conditions or with static-prone coffee.
What is the pre-breaker auger?
The auger controls how beans enter the burrs and can break some beans before the main grinding stage. The amount of pre-breaking varies with bean size and shape.
What does the integrated knocker do?
The knocker helps dislodge grounds from the chute after grinding. It complements the bellows but does not guarantee a mathematically zero-retention result.
Is the CF64V noisy?
The brushless DC motor is relatively quiet while running unloaded, but grinding volume varies with RPM, bean density, burrs and the countertop surface.
Can the CF64V stall?
Dense beans, very fine settings or unusually low speed can increase motor load. Start the motor before adding beans and allow the auger to feed them naturally.
Should I adjust finer while the grinder is running?
Yes. When moving finer, run the motor with the burrs spinning and avoid making a large fine adjustment with beans trapped in the chamber.
Can SSP burrs be installed in the CF64V?
The CF64V uses a 64mm flat-burr platform and supports compatible 64mm burr upgrades. Confirm the mounting pattern and clearance before purchase.
Does Espresso Outlet install and align upgraded burrs?
No. Optional burr upgrades normally ship uninstalled and unaligned unless the product listing explicitly states otherwise.
How do I access the burrs for cleaning?
Unplug the grinder, remove the magnetic dial cover and use the included Allen key to remove the specified hex fasteners. Mark the calibration position and follow the CF64V support instructions before disassembly.
Do new burrs need seasoning?
You can use new burrs immediately, but their grind behavior may change slightly during the first several pounds of coffee. Expect to make small dialing adjustments.
What comes with the CF64V?
The grinder includes the selected CF64V color, 64mm stainless-steel burrs, anti-popcorning hopper, bellows with wood lid, anodized aluminum dosing cup, cleaning brush and Allen key. Small packaging details can change by production run.
Why does the Black CF64V have a different dial?
Current Black units use a matching black adjustment dial. Grey and White units currently retain the silver dial; this is cosmetic and does not change grinder performance.
Is this the 120V US version?
Yes. This Espresso Outlet listing is for the 120V US model. International customers should use the Turin Grinders link in the red notice and verify voltage and plug compatibility.
